Find Family

This page is dedicated to the establishment of the Family trees of the Guthries that settled in Alachua/Clay/Putnam Counties of Florida and the Farmers that settled in the Knoxville, Tennessee Area. The original Guthrie settlement was in that part of Alachua County that is today a part Clay County.

Joseph Hubert Farmer Married Rushia Jones. Joseph Farmer was thought to be of German descent. Rushia was said to be of French/English descent. One of their children, Iva Lee Farmer married Abron [aka Abraham] Guthrie. Abron was the son of Henry Guthrie and Rebecca Howard. Henry Guthrie was of Scottish descent. Iva Lee Farmer Guthrie was my Mother!

The original information that was used to start this study was written down by my oldest sister as she remembers it. This was gathered in bits and pieces over the years from conversations with our mother, who died some 32 years ago. This being the year 2000 A.D.

The Guthrie lineage back to the old country, Scotland has been firmly established, along with our familys roots that stretch back into Germany, via the Salzburgers that settled in Georgia.

Joseph Hubert Farmer abandon Rushia and six children. All surviving children with the exception of Paul was placed in the Florida Baptist Children's Home. The Complete Farmer lineage still escapes detection, but hard work and persistance will win out. This being August of the year 2007 A.D.

Several additions to the Farmer lineage were made by Kathy Breeden who is a grand daughter of Sallie Farmer. It was through her efforts that it was determined that Joseph Farmers middle name was Hubert, not Herbert as noted in so many places on these pages. Thanks Cuz!
