pp. 84-87This indenture date made 10th April 1772 between JOHN COLCLOUGH of County Stafford and RACHEL COLCLOUGH of same . . for 3000 pds of tobacco and 10 shillings paid . . sold 50 acres it being part of 100 acres which fell to said JOHN COLCLOUGH by death of his brother BENJAMIN COLCLOUGH it being the county aforesaid bounded . . with the land of Mr. John Ashton, East with Howsen Hooe's land with the land of Benjamin Massey, South with the land of Collo. Rice Hooe, the other 50 acres being already sold to RACHEL COLCLOUGH the said land now being in possession of RACHEL . .JOHN COLCLOUGH

[Note: These land indentures dated 1721 prove that Hannah Chapman cannot be the wife of the John Colclough who is Benjamin's Brother. As of this date, I am detaching Hannah Chapman from that John Colclough and moving them to a separate Colclough family file pending determination of her husband's identity.]

p.277The deposition of RACHEL COLCLOUGH aged about 61 years being sworn deposeth that ALEXANDER COLCLOUGH in his last sickness declared that he gave all his estate to his brother WILLIAM COLCLOUGH and that he was then in perfect sense and memory and further saith not.

pp.35-38In the name of God Amen. I RACHEL COLCLOUGH of Stafford & Saint Paul's Parish being sick in body but of perfect sence . .. ordain this my last will and testament in manner following . . Imprimis I commit my soul into the hands of Almighty God . . my worldy estate I dispose of in following manner.
****Item: I give my lands in Fairfax County to be equally divided between my sons Robert Colclough and William Colclough . . their heirs . . Robert to have his part adjoining to his land where he now lives and William to the remainder.
****Item: I give William Colclough one negro named Nell - - Negro Phillip, Kate, the bed that I lay on. Item: I give unto my daughter Eliza. Bowling the use of one negro until her death & after I give said negro Will to her son John Bowling.
****Item: I give to my daughter Mary Thornbury the use of one Negro boy named Jack . . .Moll . .. until her death & after to her children.
****Item: I give unto Eliza. Bowling the use of one Negro woman named Sally for five years & if . . should not have any children . .to go to Alen Bowling & his brother Sim Bowling.
****Item: I give unto my daughter Mary Thornbury's daughter Sarah Kidwell one feather bed bolster sheets blankets & rugs that was her Grandfathers and one young cow, two pewter dishes & half a dozen pewter plates.
****Item: I give unto my daughter Rachel Bowling the feather bed & furniture that belonged to it whereon her children lays on & six head of cattle & all my hogs & six barrels of Indian Corn.
****Item: I give unto my daughter Mary Thornbury's son William Kidwell one young cow & money Capt. Anthony Thornton owes and being seven pds ten shillings.
****Item: I give unto my daughter Jane Newton the use of one Negro man named James and one Negro girl named Rose . . til the death of Jane Newton and after her death to her children.
****Item: I give unto my daughter MARGT. DERHAM use of negro boy named Jain for five years and after the five years to go to Elizabeth Bowling and said Elizabeth to have the use for five years and then to give to Alexander Colclough the son of Robert Colclough.
****Item: I give unto my daughter Mary Thornbury the remainder of my cattle after Rachel Bowling Junr and Priscilla Bowling has a heifer apiece.
****Item: I give unto my daughter MARGRET DURHAM the use of the negro named Sall after five years to be with Eliza. Bowling then to MARGT. DURHAM til her death and after . . to her children
****Item: I give unto William Colclough the land where I now dwell.
****Item: I give unto my daughter MARGARET DURHAM the use of the Negro boy named Harry until her death . . to her children.
****Item: My will is that five of the best of my pewter dishes and one dozen pewter plates be equally divided between my daughters Mary Thornbury, Rachel Bowling and Jane Newton.
****Item: I give one grey mare called Fanny to Will. Colclough and the first fole she brings to Jane Newton.
****Item: I give unto Rachel Bowling one bay horse called Spark.
****Item: My will is that my son William return the bed which I lent him formerley to my Negro woman Nell at my Death and the said Nell to have two Iron Pots & hooks which she has in her Quarter with her and such bedding and bed cloathes to go with her.
****Item: I give unto Robert & William's children all my money in the house in Majr. John Champe's hand to be equally between the said children.
****Item: My will is after my debts are paid my crop of tobacco to be equally divided between daughters Mary, Rachel, Elizabeth, Jane and MARGARET.
****Item: I give unto my granddaughter Jane DeBell one negro boy named Anthony.
****Item: My will is that sd negro be in care of my daughter Rachel . . while sd Jane comes of age or married and if she dies without heirs to William Colclough.
****Item: I give unto Jane Newton all the feathers in the house & a new bed & bolster & a new pair of Sheets & and new Quilt which is now in the house & the remainder of the furniture to be paid out for the new crop.
****Item: I give unto Racheal Bowling all the rest of my estate

p.116An account of the Estate of RACHEAL COLCLOUGH late of Stafford County deced by Saml. Thornbury Junr. Acct in this county . . The said Thornbury charges himself with the estate appraised in this county to the amount of 269p 6sh 5c. As also addl. appraismt. in Fairfax County of 50pds. 319p 6sh 5p the whole of which being legacies paid to the lagatees each having their part in according to the tenor of the will except a bedtick now in the hands of Robert Colclough who is out of this county & the first named excr Humly craves allowance for the following payments & disbursmts. Funeral expenses; paid Thomas Carver; to a judgement obtain'd by Conway; to Lawyers fees Total 4p 10sh 7-1/2c; to paid Howsin Hooe as an appraiser; paid William Bunbury as per do; paid Edward Burgess as per do; paid Rice Hooe for Leveys; paid Thomas Stribling; pd H. Tylers Clks fees as to Sher 1749 paid B: Wallers do; paid the sheriff for writ ad Convey to costs of suit Conway v Colclough. Corn at 6 pcent. Total 1817 pds tobacco.
At court held for Staffor County 10th July 1750 Samuel Thornbury Junr. one of the executors of Racheal Colclough deced made oath to above account admitted to record the Tobacco valued at 14 pcent.
