Source: A Letter of Correspondence from the Davis Lee McWhorter Papers from a descendant of Moses McWhorter:
"Jeremiah McWhorter was a brother to my great grandfather Moses McWhorter (father of Allen marlin McWhorter). Another brother was Aaron, born in 1761 in Lancaster Co., Penn. acc. to his Rev. Pension Papers. In these he said Jeremiah was his brother. Still another brother was Henry McWhorter, Jr. I do not know any other brothers or any sisters. Their father was Henry McWhorter, who was a tailor and a soldier in the Colerain Twsp., Lancaster County Company, of PA militia in 1756 in the French & Indian War. About 1771-2 Henry moved to Mecklenburg County, NC. (I think he stopped in Virginia a year or two). He lived in NC below Charlotte, and not far from the other McWs of that section. After the Revolution, he and all his sons moved to Abbeville County, SC, about 1784. Later two of his sons, Aaron and Jeremiah moved to Wilson County, TN and Henry Jr to Smith County, TN. My Ancestor, Moses, died in1797 before his brothers moved away, and his widow raised her family and stayed in SC."

The missing link is found! Glenda is the author of a McWhirter family history book. I am obtaining a copy to review her sources. She links Isaac with Hugh Barnett McWhorter as his father. Hugh is the son of Jeremiah, the same man listed in the entries above, whom I surmised was probably Isaac's grandfather. Henry McWhorter is listed as the father of Jeremiah, which also concurs with the information found in "Exits and Entrances" by Ura McWhorter Byars. However, the generation prior to Henry is where the question marks begin.
Glenda lists Henry and his brother (her ancestor) as son of Moses. Ura lists Henry and his brother William as brothers of Moses, not as sons. Ura goes on to list this trio (along with other siblings) as sons of George McWhorter, Sr. who is a son of Hugh McWhorter, Sr. who is a son of Reverend Alexander McWhorter, Jr. who is a son of Alexander McWhorter, Sr who died in 1641.
Until the mystery can be solved, I shall attempt to list Moses as brother AND potential parent in the "other parents" section.
