Balser F. Roeder (son of John Roeder) was born January 04, 1848 in Langenstein, Hessel-Cassel, Germany, and died October 22, 1928 in Hastings, Nebraska. He married Marea Stengel on February 29, 1872 in Granville, La Salle County, Illinois, daughter of George Stengel and Catherine Elizabeth Opper.
Notes for Balser F. Roeder: Passenger #759 from Germany, dated April 24, 1866, Langenstein, Germany. (To escape Prussian military service) Naturalization paper, Oct. 14, 1880 by Hon. Geo. W. Stipp of Circuit Court of La Salle Couty in court house in Ottawa. Witnessed by Christoph and Christian Opper (step-brothers of Marea Stengel).
The initial "F" was adopted because he was requested to have a middle initial and it indicates no name.
Balser and his siblings came to the United States from Germany but not all at the same time or on the same boat. Balser and two brothers came over first in a sailboat and it took them six weeks. The others came later on a steamship.--Edward H. Roeder, 1954
