He married ELISA MECHELLE DAVIS January 28, 1989 in Cumberland County, Tennessee, daughter of JOHN DAVIS and PHYLLIS SIMMONS. She was born May 25, 1968 in Bledsoe County, Tennessee.

Scott Guthrie and family live on a small farm in the Big Lick Community of southern Cumberland County, Tennessee, near the Bledsoe County line. They are located about one mile from the home and farm of Ronny Guthrie where Scott grew up. Scott is employed by Wholesale Supply Group Incorporated and is currently a branch manager at their Sparta division. Elisa is a home maker and mother of three. They are active members of the Steven's Gap Church of Christ near their home.

SCOTT GUTHRIE, MILITARY SERVICE

Scott Guthrie volunteered for service in the United States Marine Corps, November 27, 1983 and served on active duty until September 1987. He attained the rank of Corporal and was a squad leader in the 1st Low Altitude Air Defense Battalion. Scott attended Boot Camp at Paris Island, South Carolina, and Redeye/Stinger Missile School at Fort Bliss, Texas. The first unit he was assigned to in the Fleet Marine Force was the 2nd Forward Area Air Defense Battery in North Carolina, where he was a Stinger Missile Gunner. Deployments and duty stations during his tour include Egypt, Norway, Okinawa, South Korea, Philippines, Guantanamo Bay Cuba and various American states. His personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal authorized by the Secretary of the Navy, Good Conduct Medal, Rifle Expert 2nd Award, Pistol Sharpshooter, and a Sea Service Deployment Ribbon. Unit ribbons include the Meritorious Unit Citation for the battery's duty during Mid-East operations during the early to mid 1980's. Scott was released to the inactive reserves at Camp Pendelton, California in 1987 and received his honorable discharge from the Marine Corps in 1989.
