I am in the process of beginning to research my family history. I am researching the following names on my mother's side; they are Mitchell, Alexander, Bailey, and Watson. Then, on my father's side I am researching Gwinn, Wells, Davenport, Hughes, and Crawford.

My mother's family is from Alabama. My mother was born in Alabama City, Alabama. My mother and her family moved from Al. to Rome, GA., then to Clinton, SC. where they settled down. My GG Grandmother was full-blooded Indian (we think Cherokee) but we are not real sure. Her married name was Alexander. At this time I don't have any more information about her.

My father's family is from Pickens, Ware Shoals area of SC. My dad was born in NInety-Six, SC. I know my father graduated from Pacolet High School in 1950. My GG Grandfather on the maternal side of my father was full-blooded Irish. His name is Francis Marion Hughes. He was married to Lou Crawford Hughes.

I haven't found out much about my ancestors as of yet but, I am just beginning! Any information that could prove to be helpful will be greatly appreciated. I am willing to share any information that I have or find with others as well.
