Notes for M
ICHAEL HAAG:
We have found Michael's grave and it shows He died May 8, 1890. The marker shows he was 77 years, 2 months and 2 days old. That would make him being born on March 6, 1813. There are other graves around him but without markers. His second wife, Mary Magdalene Smith is buried close to him.. She was buried December 12, 1903. She died at her sons home in Effingham County,Illinois on December 10, 1903.

Notes for J
ULIANA GUTHNECK:
Julianna died April 18, 1868 and was buried on April 20, 1868 in St.Joseph's Catholic cemetery in Terre haute, Indiana. I checked the old burial records at Woodlawn Cemetery( attached to St. Joseph's] and found where they had buried a Julia Ann Hig on April 20th,1868 in the Catholic Cemetery. She was 52 and died of pneumonia. The Church records at St.Benedict's show Julianna was 52 and died of pneumonia.Where the paper trail really gets crazy is the person listed below Julianna in the old records is a Nimrod Hayes. Nimrod is buried in section 38 of Woodlawn. When they went to write down Nimrod's burial spot they wrote on Juliana's line. When they later noticed the mistake they wrote it on Nimrod's line also. When they transcribed the burials for the cemetery book of Vigo County they noticed Juliana Hig and Nimrod Hayes both shown in the same spot so they just changed Julianna's name to Julia Ann Hayes. Sounds simple. They wonder why Genealogists have grey hair.

Marriage Notes for M
ICHAEL HAAG and JULIANA GUTHNECK:
Michael and Juliana were married by Rev.Lewis Mueller at Ste.Marie,Jasper County,Illinois.I have a copy of his entry,in Latin. The two people who testified(witnessed) the wedding was Pere Michel Guthneck & Lewis Dreschler. Lewis married Ann Maria Guthneck the next year at the same church. Michel is the father of both girls. Rev.Mueller had been the first parrish priest at Ft.Wayne in 1836 and built the 1st log cabin church there in 1837. Michael Haag's first son, Lewis August Haag married Elizabeth Shirley at the same church in 1868.

Notes for M
ARY MAGDALENE( BALZER) SMITH:
Mary died on December 10, 1903. Her will was administered on January 18, 1904. The estate was reopened in 1905 to reconvey the land to her son Henry Phillip Schmitt, who was 28 and living with his mother & stepfather Michael Haag in the 1880 census. Henry had a guardian so can assume he was incapacitated in some manner.

10-01-2001 Found Mary died at her sons house, Sebastian F.Smith in Effingham County,Illinois on December 10,1903. Sebastian made arrangements to have her body shipped by wagon, then train , to St. Joseph's Cemetery,Terre haute ,Indiana to be buried by her husband, Michael Haag, who had died in 1890. She was buried on December 12, 1903 . Sebastian had to pay for a casket to obtain passage on the train and I have all records showing such. She was buried close to her husband. St. Joseph's cemetery records were burned on two different occassions but this info was found , by the author, through the funeral home, P.J.Ryan and Associates. P.J.Ryans records before 1950 are on Microfische at Vigo County Library, Terre Haute, Indiana. The people at the Library are a link to everyone's past and all this is due to them. Thanks Nancy & David.
