Hackett/Guckian Family History Web Page

James Henry Guckian and his wife Katherine Hanley came to the U.S. from Carrick on Shannon, Co. Leitrim, Ireland about 1849. They had two daughters while living in Ireland: Jean, born 1846 and Celia, born 1847. When James and Katherine were listed on the 1850 census in Rochester, New York, their last name had been changed to Hackett; their daughter Jean was not with them; and they had a new son, James Henry Hackett, born 4 May 1850.

It is not known what happened to Jean. She may have died before they left Ireland, on the voyage over or after they arrived in the U.S.
