OBITUARY - Walter Vernon Hull, son of William and Rebecca Hull was born August 22, 1877, near Marceline, Lynn county, Mo., and departed this life at Hardtner, Kans., February 10, 1943, at the age of 65 years, 5 months and 19 days.He lived with his parents in Missouri until 1895 when he came to Kansas and made his home with his uncle, G.L. Graves for a time and was a resident of this community for a number of years. As his parents soon followed him here, and he and his father farmed in partnership until his marriage.
In June, 1910, he was married to Miss Myrtle Blunk and continued to live in this community on a farm one mile north of Hardtner for several years, they moved to Winchester, Okla., where he was living at the time of his death.
Four children were born to his family:Mrs. Doris Glee Hada, Miriam LaVerne White, Vernon William Hull and Mrs. Ruby Sunshine Decker, all of whom, together with his wife and three adored grand-children survive him.
He was converted and united with the Methodist Church in his early youth and after coming to Kansas he joined the M.E. church at Crown Point and later when a class was organized at Hardtner he transferred his membership there. He was on the Board of Trustees at the time the Hardtner Methodist church was built and was very active in securing the funds and in all other necessary arrangements to be made relative to the building of the church.Although he transferred his membership to the church near his home at Winchester and was a faithful worker there, serving as Sunday School superintendent or teacher of the mens' Bible class, during his entire membership he has considered Hardtner his church home, and one of his last requests was that he and his family might be reunited with this church, which he held so dear.
In his passing, his wife has lost a faithful, loving helpmate, his children a kind and adoring father, and the world a sincere and righteous and upright citizen.Besides his immediate family he is survived by five sisters, Mrs. J.M. Harris of Arkansas City, Kans.; Mrs. Addie Hern of San Antonio, Texas; Mrs. Luella Allen of Hardtner; Mrs. Georgia Wright of Kiowa; and Mrs. Hattie Lewis of Alva, Oklahoma. One brother, Charles Burchard preceded him in death about two years ago. Also left to mourn his passing are a host of other relatives and friends.
