I am researching 2 Family Trees on this site.
One is my husbands side which is the Gilbert & Harriett Moore family from the Meigs county Tennessee area.
Gilbert Moore was born in Tennessee in August of 1830. Gilbert is the son of a White slave owner Caleb Moore and a slave, whose name is not known at the present time. Harriett last name unknown, possibly born in Tennesse about 1831, she was a slave also. She was of West Indian decent.
Gilbert & Harriett married sometime before 1856 in Meigs county Tennessee. They had a very large family, possibly 13 or more children. 1 child born to Gilbert & Harriett was Gilbert Govenor Moore born in February 1859 in Meigs co Tennessee.
He is mentioned in the Will of Caleb Moore. He went by the name Govenor or G G Moore. He married Mary Julia Brown July 29, 1885 in Meigs county Tennessee. She went by the name Julia.
