The Hagan Family Tree: In Ireland 1800's and Canada Today

I am looking for records in Ireland for JAMES HAGAN and forebears. He was born in Ireland circa 1825. Trade:weaver. He lived at Clare, County Down, Diocese of Dromore,Parish of Tullylish. Wife: Ann Matheson (Mattison, Mathieson?) Sons: James b. March 16, 1854,John b. 1851, Joseph and George.

It appears the family emigrated to Canada in 1875, however George may have stayed in Ireland or emigrated elsewhere.

John married Jane McDonald in Canada. They had six children. He died in Ottawa accidentally June 15, 1892; a load of logs fell upon him. His wife and family moved to Toronto.

James settled in Ottawa, Canada. He married Margaret-ElizabethMansfield on March 30, 1881. They had a child James Thompson Hagan, born on June 12, 1881, who died 6 months later on January 8, 1882. Margaret, who had been ill for some time, died of consumption on February 24, 1882 at 19 years of age. They both died at Gleniffer, a house in Rockcliffe where they were employed. On March 6, 1885, James married Caroline Merchant (nee Scales) widow of Samuel Merchant. Caroline Merchant had been a witness at the wedding of James and Margaret.On April 3, 1893, they bought a lot (101 Third Avenue) in a new subdivision, called The Glebe, on the southern edge of Ottawa.

They had six children: James Thomas born August 25, 1885. (m. Ann Evelyn Skillen) Died December 25, 1948.George born March 4, 1889. At 5 years old, on May 22, 1894, little George was tragically killed on railway tracks by a shunt engine. The details of the inquest are recorded in The Free Press on May 29, 1894.Charlotte was born on May 29, 1891. She died on February 9, 1893, one year and eight months old.Charles Henry was born on July 4, 1893 (m. Marie Brousseau) and died on November 21, 1943.

My father, William John, was born on November 22, 1896. He became a Steel Plate printer at the Canadian Banknote. In World War II, he was promoted from gunner to Sergeant (13th Artillery Brigade) and got 14 days leave in Paris. He returned to his job at the Banknote where he met Dolores (Laura) Wilson b. October 1, 1899 in Montreal. They were married on July 31, 1926, (he was 30 and she 26) and bought the house at 99 Third Avenue. There they had three children; Amy Joyce, George b. May 17, 1930 was premature and died on the same day, and Donald William. William John Hagan died at home on July 20, 1939. Dolores was a widow at age 39 with two children ages 12 and 5. She was a great single Mom who lived to enjoy her granddaughters.She died April 23, 1989.

Beatrice Grace was the last child of James and Caroline b. 1899. d. Nov. 17. 1984.

I am searching also for Thomas and Elizabeth SCALES, lived at 132 Golden Lane, Parish of St.Thomas Charterhouse, County of Middlesex, England. Trade: brewer. Children: Thomas, Elizabeth, Caroline and Charlotte. Emigrated to Canada circa 1864.

Searching also for Pierce MANSFIELD and wife Ann HEALY and forebears in Ireland. He was the proprietor of the New Edinburgh Hotel in Ottawa in 1881 and his Irish family may have been in that business also.
Looking for any info on Samuel Merchant in Canada circa 1875 or in U.K. earlier.
Searching also, on my maternal side, for David and Lydia WILSON. He operated an inn or saloon or livery in Toronto circa 1860. He may have married twice. They were originally from England or Scotland.
Searching also for Charles Alfred VOSE b. June 30, 1824 d. August 23, 1888 and wife Lucy Mary BERRY b. October 23, 1830 d. May 24, 1902. They both came from Woolwich, County Kent,England. In Canada they lived in Toronto.
