Updated May 2, 2007

I started to get interested in the FAMILY when I received a copy of "Remembering" written by my Aunt Kay. I have just started so please bear with me. My father Tom ran the family business, Hagan Coal. At one time it was known as Joyce-Hagan Coal. It was originally located at 5959 S. Prairie in Chicago. As newer construction was putting in gas heat the business started to decline. The business was officially closed after my father's death from lung cancer in 1972.
My Grandfather, Fred Eley, we called Bopie. He came from Ipswich England. He worked at Marshall Fields as a furrier. His father was a lifeguard to Queen Victoria. My grandmother Helen Barton Eley was a model. The story goes that her father worked or rode with Buffalo Bill.
Uncle Bob was a prominant pediatrician in Chicago. Aunt Kay was his receptionist. He might have been a very good doctor, but he gave bad shots.Bob, Margaret, Paul, Leo, and Irene were killed in a plane crash on their way home from New York.
My great grandfather Nicholas Michalski was from Poland. He fought with the British in the Crimean War. He never saw his family after he came to the USA. His sons, John and George changed their name to Warwick in the early 1900s.My grandmother Mary kept her name Michalski until she married.
