My great-grandmother, who came to Chicago from Reil, Germany in 1853. "Grandma Hommerding" came out from Chicago a few months before her daughter, Barbara, died in childbirth, and she remained with August Kemmerich and his children for the rest of her life.
She passed away on March 25, 1912 at the age of 78.
