OBITUARY:***THE PARIS NEWS, Firday, Dec. 7, 1979, p.4:***
*Elvis C. Maddox of Rt. 1, Powderly, died at L.P. McCuistion Regional Medical Center at 8 a.m. this morning. Funeral services are to be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Fry and Gibbs Funeral Home w the Rev. Floyd Woodard of Bounds Baptist Church, the Rev. Glynn Vickers of the Calvary Methodist Church and the Rev. Leslie Evans of Mt. Olive Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Long Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Saturday night at the funeral home. Mr. Maddox was born Sept. 3, 1911 in Powderly. His parents were the late Ben Stuart and Mary M. (Reed) Maddox. He attended public school in old Palestine School in Powderly. Mr. Maddox married Ester Elizabeth Vaughn on Nov. 22, 1935. They lived in Lamar County until 1953 when they moved to Dallas. In 1975 they Moved back to Powderly and had resided there since that time. Mr. Maddox was a retired employee of Southwest Airmotive, haning worked there for approximately 21 years until his retirement in 1975. He was a Member of Tyler Street Methodist Church in Dallas. Survivors include his wife; three daughters Mrs. G.M. (Phyllis) Papineau of Masa, Ariz., Linda Kinsely of Paris and Ms. Janice Maddox of Duncanville; One son Don Stuart Maddox of Santa Rosa, CAlif., two sisters, Mrs. Etta (Maddox) Bramlett of Paris and Mrs. Roy Brothers of Powderly; and four grandchildren. ***
*Son of Ben Stuart Maddox and Mary Magdeline (Reed) Maddox. Married Ester Elizabeth Vaughn in Lamar County. Thier Children were: #1 Phyllis Gayle, #2 Don Stuart, #3 Linda Kay, #4 Janis Marie Maddox. Elvis was an aircraft mechanic for many years in Dallas before retiring and returning to Paris.*
