| My dad's side of the family has been in what is now the area of Watauga Co., NC since the late 1700's. My 5th great grandfather is Thomas Hodges, founder of Hodges Gap, NC. Other family names in this part of my family tree include NORRIS, MILLER, LEWIS, and GREEN(E). My mom's side of the family has been in America as early as the mid 1600's. Henry Howland, brother of the Pilgrim John Howland, is my 9th great grandfather. Other names in that line are DEWOLF/DOLPH, BECKWITH, and SLOCUM. Also on my mom's side are the Houghkirk's (along with it's various spellings) who settled in New York; originally from Holland. Much of her family migrated to Iowa and these families include WALL, WILKINSON, and HIGGINBOTHAM. WILLIAMS, ROWE, and MAUGHN are other names that can be found in her line. New to this site is the addition of my husband's maternal lines. Names on this side of the family include, PALMER, HATFIELD, HOFF/HUFF, PRATT, FOSTER/FORSTE AND NEAL/O'NEAL. These lines lived in San Francisco, CA, Oregon, Iowa and Missouri. |
