| I am researching the HANCHEY family of southeastern counties inAlabama. The possible counties the HANCHEY family may have originated and/or resided are, COFFEE, CRENSHAW, PIKE, BUTLER, DALE, HENRY, BULLOCK AND BARBOUR. My maternal great grandfather was James Martin Columbus HANCHEY, b 8-20-1875, d 12-23-1955 in Crenshaw County, Alabama. He married in Pike County, Alabama on 1-27-1904 to Malinda O. RHODES, b 10-9-1879, d 10-3-1951 in Crenshaw County, Alabama. Both are buried in Petrey Cemetery in Petrey, Crenshaw County, Alabama. They had 3 daughters: Bessie Mae(my grandmother), b 11-1-1904, d 5-11-1981. She married in Glenwood, Crenshaw County, Alabama on 2-3-1929 to Roan Madison GREEN(E), b 12-1-1900, d 9-21-1988.They are also buried in the Petrey Cemetery in Petrey, Crenshaw County, Alabama. They had 1 son and 2 daughters, all of which are still living. Bessie Mae & Roan GREEN(E) lived in Petrey, Alabama, most of their married life and prior to their deaths. Lucille, b ??, d 6-1981 in Elba, Coffee County, Alabama. She married ?? LEE, b ??, d ??. She is buried in a cemetery in Elba, Alabama and unsure if husband(Mr. LEE) is buried in same cemetery. They had 2 daughters, which are still living and several sons, some of which are still living. I believe 2 of their sons reside or resided in Elba, Alabama. Annie Lois(nickname-Oshie), b ??, d ?? in Montgomery, Montgomery County, Alabama.She is buried in one of the cemeteries in Montgomery, Alabama. She had only 1 child, a daughter, who is still living. I would greatly appreciate any additional info on the HANCHEY family as I am having extreme difficulty in obtaining any info on ancestors or living descendants. It seems my family never shared much info on the HANCHEY family or where they may have come from or where some of them may have lived. This seems rather odd, but I have found many families with the same problem.It would be so much nicer for family to share a part of history with their surviving relatives. ***Also, I have a marriage list of HANCHY/HANCHEY couples who married in Pike County, Alabama if anyone is interested. I obtained this info from the Archives and History in Montgomery, Alabama while doing research and as a result is the only bit of info I found on my great grandparents(HANCHEY), the date of their marriage.
