I'm searching for the parents, brothers, sisters, or other relatives of JONAS (JONUS) DEAS of Jeffrey's Township, Marion County, (presently Florence County), SC and his wife, SYLVIA, maiden name unknown, a Native American.

JONAS DEAS, African-American, b abt 1850 in SC is listed in the 1870 Census records. JONAS and SYLVIA had 3 daughters and 2 sons that we know of:

1. JOE - spouse SOPHRONIA GREEN
2. WILLIAM - spouse RACHEL CRAWFORD
3. ELLEN - spouse WALTER GREEN
4. ANNIE - spouse ENOCH HINES
5. MARY - (spouse unknown)

JONAS and SYLVIA may have had a 3rd son, possibly named THOMAS DEAS, who left the Marion/Florence area, settled in Bennettsville, SC.

JONAS' father may have been ARTHUR DEAS of McMillan's Township, Marion County, SC, b abt 1824; mother SARAH b abt 1835 in SC. ARTHUR and SARAH's children are BENJAMIN, b abt 1851, JEFFERSON, b abt 1860, and MACK, b abt 1865; sister's JULIA, b abt 1853 and MELINDA, b abt 1856. SALINE DEAS, b abt 1845, of Kerby's Township, Marion County, SC, may also be related.
