Per Parsons Historian, Frankie Colton is widow of Luther

Rec'd letter from Parsons Public Library
Springhill Cemetery located just south of Parsons in Liberty Township is apparently where Frankie is buried.
Also rec'd copy of obit on Frankie, published in the Parsons Daily
"MRS. FRANKLEY COLTON SUCCUMBS AT ALTAMONT
ALTAMONT, Oct 20--Mrs. Frankey Colton, 80, died here last night at the home of her son, Bert Colton. She had been in poor health for several years.
Mrs. Colton moved to Altamont with her sister, Mrs. Nettie Brathen, 10 yeaars ago. Mrs. Brathen died in 1927. Mr. Colton died 27 years ago. Mrs. Colton moved here from Parsons where she lived many years.
She was a member of the Christian church of Parsons and also belonged to the Women's Relieft corps. Bert Colton is her only living near relative.
The funeral will be held at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon. Burial will be in Spring Hill cemetery.
(copy of obit in my permanent file)"

This raises a few questions. Most important, if Luther died 27 years before Frankie (which would have been 1903 or 1904) why was Frankie listed as a widow with Bert Colton 4 years old in 1880????? I have found a military record for Luther Colton receiving benefits in Iowa in 1890, and then Frankie receiving benefits starting in Oct of 1904 in Kansas, and then another widow????? requesting benefits in Nov 1915 in Iowa, however it appears it was denied as there is an application number but no certificate number. Waiting actual records for the archieve to maybe solve this puzzel.

Note from Janice Colton Larkin (email in file)
....I have been to Frankie Boone's grave in Parsons... My dad took me there before his death and told me that her husband Luther E. Colton, had left her and went up north years before she died but didn't say how many years. Said he was buried up there somewhere but wasn't even sure of the state....I did get the dates on her (Frankie's) stone when we were there and they were born Jan 17, 1848 and died Oct 19, 1930.
