Notes for T
HOMAS ALMAND:
The information here listed is a composition of the work of many, many family members who have freely shared their family history and is the property of all members of the Almand/Almond family. I, by posting this, by no means claim! or take credit! for all of this information, only that I have spent untold hours interring the information in Family Tree Maker. The file that contains the Thomas and James Almand files contain 12,235 names, 24,484KB in size, 4176 marriages, 57,308 text records, through 19 generations and 2,248 surnames.

All of this information, to my knowledge, was given freely by family members like myself who do not wish to profit from this work. Though there are a few that think they own public records, etc and think they should be paid for their research time and are not willing to share, I for one am not one of these people.
I have always freely shared any thing I knew with any one who asked for information on our ancestors.

I have received many positive responses and many have sent me correction and additions and others are planing to give them to me soon, and I thank you all for your help in making this a great family tree.

It is my hope that placing this information on a web page would give every body a chance to review and forward correction and additions. There is no sensitive information posted on living people. The files posted were "Privatized" to prevent any living persons data from being available.

As we approach the Annual Almand/Almond Family Reunion on September 14, 2003, I realize that this will be my 15th year as president of the reunion. Though there are a few years that I did not attend the reunion, for the most part I have been there for the last 58 years with fond memories of the older bunch that are mostly gone now. People like my grandmother, Maggie Lee Almand/Hale and to many of my father's cousins to mention.

Thomas is sometimes referred to as Thomas B. Almand, but no record has been seen with the B used or is it know for sure what the B stands for. Many of their children and grandchildren have the name Butler in their name. His father is referred to as Thomas A. Almand with no account as to what the A stands for.
There has been no marriage record found for Thomas and Nancy but as they were supposed to be in Elbert County Georgia at the time, which was before they stated keeping marriage records, it is thought that is where they married about 1800. Nancy's parents were there and later were in Madison County Georgia when it was cut out of Elbert Co.

ANCY DAVID:
Nancy David Almand's home was on the town lot where the Rockdale County Court House stands today. I has been said that when she died that she had over 300 descendants. It is also stated that 45 of those served the Confederate States of America, many giving thier lives for the lost cause.
