Amanda Belford (daughter of Joseph Belford and Laurisetta)^{39, 40} was born Bet. January 1859 - 1861 in KY^{40, 41}, and died December 23, 1932. She married James Harvey Brown on Abt. 1880, son of John Elliott Brown and Sara Hicks.

According to Mollie Brown Hale, greatgranddaughter, Mandy was pretty. Her well-to-do parents apparently disowned her when she married Harvey. She went through very hard times, with Harvey often gone, trying to provide for all of the kids, and often had to live on the largess of friends and neighbors. Her brother uncle or brother (Benjamin)? may have contributed to/helped found Belfort Hospital near Ashland.

According to Gladys Brown Stone, granddaughter, Mandy Belford's father was George Belford and her mother was Cassie Nichols from Ireland. She had brothers Thomas and Benjamin, who was well-to-do. However, the 1870 Greenup Co., KY Census shows a 9 year old Amanda Belford and brother Thomas with father Joseph, and mother Laurisetta.
