Notes for John D. Dunn: Per Elizabeth Alice (Liz) Dunn Hale, her mother, Nancy Jane Birchfield, told Liz that her grandfather John Dunn was working in timber when a tree that he was cutting kicked back into him, killing him instantly. William Houston (Will) Dunn's little sister, Mary Liz Dunn, still a little girl, came running down the hill and said "Pop's dead." Will & Nancy Jane had not been married very long at that time.
Liz said that John's wife [Margaret Taulbee] was grouchy and hateful, (which her father Will Dunn inherited). She wouldn't even go to John's funeral, but claimed that she was sick. They no sooner got out of sight than she got a wagon and began pitching his things into it "cleaning up."
