| Researching Hall, Mallard, Sills, Pittman, Hart, Cohron, Granger, Davis, Jones (two lines: Allen and Bethel), Pridgeon, Boone, Gregory, Bruner, Majors, Singletary, Holliman, Massey, Bright, Bell, Violett and others as they come along. Nearly all of the major lines came to live in Jackson Co, FL and Houston, then Henry, Co, AL.Major lines include: Malcomb Hall of mid-19th century Georgia in Dooly and Marion counties. Malcomb and his son, Daniel, were in Jackson Co by 1860. Alfred Mallard of early 19th century Humphrey Co, TN. Alred's earliest known ancestor was a John Mallard of North Carolina. The Mallards were one of family that did not to live in North Florida. Alfred's grandson, George Vivian, came to Hillsborough Co, FL after the First World War. Macklin Sills of early 19th century Georgia. Macklin's grandfather was Jonathan Sell who helped found the Quaker meeting at Wrightsboro in North Georgia. It was William, Macklin's son, who moved southward, settling in Jackson Co by 1860. Jones M. Pittman of mid-19th century Georgia. Jones was the great grandson of John Pittman and Mary Rowe, originally of Virginia. Levi Hart of early 19th century Georgia. Levi's ancestry remains a mystery to me at this point. He came to settle in Jackson Co with several of his brothers - Hardy, Jesse, and John. William Leonidas Cohron of mid-19th century Georgia. William Leonidas died before 1850 in Chambers Co, AL. His wife, Eliza Jane, remarried and settled with her children in southern Henry County. Allen Jones of early 19th century Georgia. His daughter, Elizabeth, married Jones Pittman. Furney Granger of early 19th century South Carolina. He moved his family to Jefferson Co, FL before 1840. This line is somewhat confusing but the men I have now as Furney's sons settled in Jackson and Henry counties to the west. Henry Davis of late 18th century Virginia. He married into the Boone family the history of which stretches back to pre-Colonial times. Bethel Jones who may have come from Horry Co, SC. John Pridgeon of early 19th century Alabama. I've had no luck determining where this family was before coming to Alabama. |
