1. JONATHAN1 SELL was born Mar-17-1728/29 in PA, and died Bet. 1810 - 1820 in NC, Stokes Co. He married SARAH TATEM Jan-06-1756 in NJ, Gloucester Co, Haddonfield, daughter of JOHN TATEM and SARAH LORD.

Notes for J
ONATHAN SELL:
Became a Quaker at the time of his marriage.
A member of the Cane Creek Meeting in North Carolina (located at Snow Camp in present day Alamance Co), he helped to found the community at Wrightsboro in present day McDuffie Co, GA.
His sons, Thomas and John, were disowned by the Quakers: Thomas in 1781 "for bearing arms in a warlike manner," and again, having been readmitted into the meeting, on Jan 2, 1797 "for giving his sister, a member who married out of unity, liberty to come to his house & for providing a wedding dinner."
John was disowned for "marrying out of the unity."
Two of Jonathan's daughters, Deborah and Sarah, also married outside the church.
