I am researching the family of Henry Hall, b. 1827 in NY, m. 1873 (Macon Co, MO) Augusta Lorinda Hastings, b. 1841 in Lee Co, IL.We have done considerable research on Augusta Hastings, as she is a descendant of Deacon Thomas Hastings, an early puritan who settled in Watertown, MA in 1637(Augusta, Willard, Samuel, Nathaniel, John, John, Thomas).Henry Hall's father was reportedly born in Scotland before immigrating to the United States.Other New England families related to the Hastings clan are Ives, Griswold, Fiske, Houghton and Martin, among others. I am also researching the family of Noah Huett and Nora Conlee. They were concentrated in Ft. Madison, Lee Co, IA in the mid to late 1800s. The earliest record of the Huett family is the War of 1812 in Ohio; the earliest record of the Conlee family is North Carolina in the late 1700's with Isaac Conlee and Mary (Kennedy) Conlee. We have shown the connection between the Iowa Conlees started by Reuben Samuel and the southern clan started by Enoch which eventually settled in Jarrell, Texas.Reuben's son, William M. Conlee, fought for the Union army and Enoch's son, also named William M. Conlee, fought for the Confederate army. Related to the Huett family are the families of Clapp, Whiteman, Low, and Rogers from the Brick Church Community in Guilford Co, NC.I have traced my Clapp ancestry through Jorg "George" Valentine Klapp and his brother Johann "John" Ludwig Klapp, Sr., both born in Bingen, Germany. My earliest Whiteman ancestor is Mathias Weidmann from Durlach, Germany. The Foster family records date back to 1651 when Col. Joseph Foster immigrated to New Kent Co, VA Colony from England and also includes the Bassett, Roper, More, Buster, Fisback, and Coons families, among others. The Foster/Bassett families include Sir Thomas More and Charlemagne as direct ancestors. The Fosters moved in 1820 to Johnson Co and Tipton Co, IN.The Tipton Co, Indiana Fosters (Richard and Lucinda Coons Foster), dating from 1820 to the present, also includes the Berge, Siler, Bailey, Fish, Hutto, Dawson, and Barr families. The Berge ancestry goes back to Hans Ulrich Burgy, who migrated to Montgomery Co, PA from Switzerland in the early 1700's. The Loeffler and Beesley families are concentrated in Wabash Co, IL.Other names related to these families are Corrie, Bliss, Milburn, Worcester, and Griswold. The Corrie family came from Scotland. The Bliss, Worcester, and Griswald's were some of the early settlers in New England after arriving from England. The earliest known Loeffler is Jacob C. Loeffler, b. 1832 in Germany and d. 1908 Wabash Co, IL. The Merrill family is concentrated in North Central and Central Indiana, with records from the mid-1600's in Worcester Co and Somerset Co, MD.The Payne family, also of Worcester Co and Somerset Co, MD and nearby VA is also related to the Merrill's.I am researching the following families and are glad to share and receive as much information as is available. Most of my trees are too large to place on this web page, but we will send files when people request them.
