He was born May 9, 1922 in Grey Eagle to Earl and Blanche (Callahan) Eldred. He grew up on a farm and attended school in Westport. He married Lucille Titzke Nov. 6, 1943. For the first eight years of their marriage, in addition to farming, he drove milk truck for the Little Sauk Creamery. After attending an auctioneering school in Mason City, IA, he began a rewarding job as an auctioneer. His career would span 42 years and have him participating in over 8,000 auctions. He also sold cars and machinery for Blais Motors of Long Prairie from 1954 1956, selling Plymouth vehicles and Allis Chalmer tractors. Pontiac and GMC Trucks were the next brand of vehicles he sold as a salesman for Griep's Garage from 1957 1961. Other business ventures he was involved in included operating the Long Prairie Sales Barn, running a bowling alley, operating Long Prairie Machinery, Long Prairie Tractor Supply, a mobile home park in Prescott, AZ, doing real estate sales and appraising, building and managing the Eldred Country Club Apartments. His latest venture and hobby was selling golf carts. Some of his other interests included flying airplanes, dancing, traveling, playing cards, cheering for the MN Twins, watching boxing, CNN and FOX news, socializing and golfing, golfing, golfing. Because he was always so upbeat, there was always sunshine and nice weather wherever he went. For him each day was " beautiful and perfect." Many will also remember hearing him say, "I'm just about caught up!" but there was always another project that would catch his interest and keep him on the go. No matter what he was doing however, his family was always number one with Bob. He was a loving, energetic and inspiring husband, father, grandpa and brother who will be dearly missed by his family, neighbors, friends and all who had the pleasure to know him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Blanche Eldred; a daughter, Candy Eldred; three brothers, twin brother Roger, Cleve and James Eldred; and four sisters, Doris Hanson, Lorraine Close, Ardith Rygg and Joyce Wallin.
