Notes for Ole Torgerson Hegg:
The older members of the Regina Marie family have always been told that the Hegg name was taken on arrival in the United States.Regina signed her Bible in 1882 "Regina Marie Olsen Hage".It is suspected that "Olsen" was used (Ole's son) to denote Ole's family.
Ole is said to have spent some time in the Royal Norwegian Army some time between 1861 and 1868.

Ole & Kristine were of the same community in Norway, Ole from Haga (of which the family name originated), seven miles south of Ullensaker.
Kristine, her sister Ingeborg, her husband Marius, and Ole departed in 1870 for a new america by ship from Oslo, Norway to Montreal, Canada, and then to Milwaukee, WI (on which Regine was born).They were directed to Bristol Township (near Greenleafton), Fillmore County, MN, in the fall of 1870.
They farmed for eight years (harvest 1870 to seedtime 1878).They then relocated to the Valley of the Red River of the North in May 1878.They made the trip by oxcart, each drawn by a pair of oxen, in a caravan said to have included four teams of oxen.The Heggs homesteaded 14 miles south of Grand Forks, ND (near Reynolds), across the road from the Andersons, in the southeast quarter of Section 10 of Americus Township.
