| I am researching the William Cook HAMMAN family line. William was the 9th child of Phillip Hamman who came to America from the Upper Rhineland region of Germany in 1772. Phillip was a Private in the 12th VA Regiment during the Revolutionary War. William was born in Montgomery County, KY on June 26, 1796 and died in DeKalb County, AL on October 12, 1870. William was my g-g-g-g-grandfather. In addition, I'm researching the Dallas Lester JOHNS family of White Oak (Camden County), GA. Dallas was born in Georgia in January 1871. He married Sallie Amelia DAVIS in 1895, and they had four children: Ethel A., Dessie Dewey, un-named infant, and Lucille Averdell. Lucille was my paternal grandmother; she became a HAMMOND when she married Claude Nelson Hammond, Sr. in 1925. I'm trying to find out what happened to Ethel and the un-named infant. Dallas was the grandson of Malekiah (Malachi) JOHNS who was a Private in the 5th GA Cavalry, Company G (Liberty County), during the Civil War. He was born in South Carolina, but I have been unable to identify his parents. I suspect he came from the Beaufort District of South Carolina. Malekiah was my g-g-g-grandfather. Any additional information would be appreciated. I am also willing to share the information that I have. Thanks for visiting!! |
