| I have been researching my family roots since 2000 when I took early retirement from my job as a Senior Manager with Barclays Bank and have built up an extensive database. I have found cousins around the world since my searching began, not only in the United Kingdom but USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand in particular. I have had my DNA tested by FamilyTreeDNA with the 37 marker test and have been placed in Group A (H-176, kit 64535). My father, George Hamilton, originated from Stonehouse, Lanarkshire, Scotland and his descendants came from the villages within that area mainly Lesmahagow, Glassford and Dalserf. My mother, Annabella (Nan) Paterson, originated from the Black Isle in a place called Jemimaville, Resolis, Ross & Cromarty, Scotland. Her descendants came in the main from the Black Isle, Sutherland and Caithness. My Grandparents are Robert Hamilton born 18 October 1880 Stonehouse, Lanarkshire he married Janet Jackson born 18 December 1880 Stonehouse on 3 March 1905 in Stonehouse and Roderick Paterson born 16 September 1874 Fearn, Ross & Cromarty he married Jemima Urquhart born 22 March 1876 Resolis, Ross & Cromarty on 13 March 1896 Resolis, Ross & Cromarty. My Great Grandparents are George Hamilton born 6 November 1854 Glassford, Lanarkshire he married Jane (Jeanie) Thomson born 8 February 1855 Stonehouse on 31 December 1877 in Stonehouse. John Jackson born 1839 Stonehouse he married Janet Hamilton born 23 July 1841 Stonehouse on 7 October 1860 in Stonehouse. Alexander Paterson born 7 October 1846 St Andrews-Lhanbryd, Elgin he married Catherine Stewart born 1851 Urquhart, Ross & Cromarty on 7 June 1872 in Urquhart & Logie Wester, Ross & Cromarty. William Urquhart born 4 August 1833 Jemimaville, Ross & Cromarty he married Alexandrina Munro born 13 April 1842 Thurso, Caithness on 7 February 1868 in Jemimaville.
