2. RALPH² HUDSPETH II (RALPH¹) was born Abt 1695 in Henrico County, Virginia, and died November 1777 in Surrey County, N.C.. He married (1) MARY CARTER, daughter of Giles Carter and Mary Povall. He married (2) CATHERINE ? Abt 1736.

From Surrey County Heritage Book:

Ralph is in Surrey County, NC by the early 1770s. He owned land at different times in Goochland County, Va., Amelia County, Va., Granville County, NC, Edgecomb County, NC, and Surrey county, NC. His wives and children's names and his in-laws names came from this book also.
His will was written in 1776. Several of this family served in the Revolution as well as following wars. Their descendants first moved to Ky, Tn, Ga, and then many other states.
