Timothy Coe of Accomac Co. Va. traces his history back to England to Sir John Coe, who died in 1425, and was knighted for bravery on the battlefield by Edward III, and about whom Conan Doyle wrote one of the first historical novels, "The White Company". There are several English immigrants by the surname Coe who came early to America. This particular family seems to descend from Timothy Coe I of Accomac Co., Va. Timothy Coe II of Sussex Co. Delaware, and Timothy Coe III, who died in Rowan Co. NC in 1763.
