My mother, Lila "Lea" Wilcox Buls caught the genealogy bug in the late 1970's and spent numerous hours interviewing family members, writing letters, ordering records, and ordering and searching microfilms. The fruits of her labor are documented in her over 500 page family history book "You'll Love Our Family (The roots were exceptional)" in which she wrote out family histories, compiled photographs, maps and records, and told us of the lives and times of those that came before us.It seems to me that a large part of her motivation was to share all these incredible details and people with her family and to honor, in particular, her parents, James B. and Inez E. Williams Wilcox. "Some of us buy our literature at the second-hand store, others shop the shelves of the department store for paperbacks with stories that suit our mood, or interests.More recently have come another kind of story seeker, who is attempting to unravel and unfold their own stories, from old records of the family. That is what genealogy is all about; these amateur detectives piecing together stories which hold tales of adventure, love, heartache, great triumph; of men with patriotism and abounding faith in their heavenly Father.Hollywood deserves to be jealous of our script, for if we should set it out, there would truly be an equal to "How the West Was Won".LB 1980" How I wish she were here today to marvel with me at all of the information available at one's fingertips, software to create absolutely stunning publications, and email to easily bring us closer to other story seekers. Thank you mom, for putting so much of your loving self into this history.I will continue to add to, update, and treasure what you have done in hopes it is of value to all our family and descendants.Love is eternal. | Hamer-Jensen-Buls-Wilcox Updated March 3, 2008 |
