Hi Nancy:
Finally got back to this thing, been working on a bathroom all day.
My book shows Elijah King as a principal figure in the 1834 elections in
Murray,Co.It seems that he helped to change or enforce the residency
requirements for voters. To have been old enough to do that he must have
been born 1810-15 but he may have been connected to your Elijah born 1839.
The 1834 cencus shows Elijah King on page 9, the 1840 census shows Elijah
King on page17.Other Kings on 1840 census were Ambrose, Elias, J.M.,
Robert, S.E., Sisom E. and William. The 1850 census shows Elisha King page
1409 [I wonder if this could be a misspelling of Elijah], other Kings in
1850 were George, Isham, J.J., John, John, Robert and Samuel D.I can find
no direct reference to Elijah's family but there are two King family
histories listed.Charles Newton King,Sr. b. May 17 1861 Jonesboro, Tn.
d.Dec.14 1897 Murray,Co.Ga. married Florence Eugenia Cleveland of Fair
Play,SC.
Charles was the son of John Christian King b.Jan. 19 1830 in
Botetourt,Co.Va.
Thomas W. King b. Apr. 9 1832 in Franklin,Co.Ga. d.Nov. 20 1905 buried in
Oakwood Cem. near Whitesboro,Tx.Married Bethenia F Cox of Dalton [Ga?]
b.May 25 1842.
I hope some of this might fit your King family. The histories on these
two men are rather long so if you have any further questions please ask.I
am new at this and I may be giving you more information than is necessary
but I enjoy it and by doing I learn more about how to search for my own
family ties.Good luck.
Bill
