6. BENARD³ HANRATTY (UNKNOWN 1A², UNKNOWN 1¹) was born November 19, 1805 in Carrickmacross, Monaham Co., Ireland, and died December 20, 1858 in Crawford Co, PA. He married MARY MARGARET. She was born June 15, 1810 in Ireland, and died June 15, 1861 in Crawford Co., PA.

Came to the US in 1840, with wife and siblings, Owen, James and Ann.

Was staying with his brother Dr. Thomas Daniel Hanratty upon arrival in PA.

According to Leo Hanratty (b. 1899), as told to Jim Hanratty in 1937, a child was kidnapped. "Barney and family were in a hotel; at dinner the people next to them showed an inordinate amout of interest in their youngest child, about 2, who had blue eyes and dark hair. They gave him a silver dollar. The next morning when they awoke the child was gone, and the hotel people claimed no knowledge or no record of who the people were - they were also gone, and no one was able to find or trace them"

Records indicate the family of Barny moved to Summerhill and took up farming. The death certificate of son Hugh shows his place of birth as Conneautiville, PA.
