Researching the following Irish surnames:Mean(e)y, Donnelan(sp), O'Day/Day/O'Dea, Hanl(e)y, Gallagher, Sherry, Shea, Prindeville, Bowen, Murtha and Morgan...All came from Ireland and settled in the Jersey City area of New Jersey sometime in the mid-1800's...(The Hanley and Morgan surnames were married in Brooklyn, NY before heading to Jersey City, NJ sometime between 1874 and 1875)... The White surname in my family originated in Germany, and landed in Brooklyn, NY. It could also have been spelled "Whyte" at one point. In the Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania area, I am researching the O'Herron (and its many many varied spellings) and also the Brennan, Foley, McGee (all names from Ireland) and Alberts (Germany) surname... Also researching the following Polish surnames: Moskal and possibly Lama from Rozwadow, Poland.Gajda, Paslawska, Pulit (or Polit), Koszyk and Hajnor. These names are from the towns of Glinnik, Barktowa, and Posadowa in the Nowy Sa~cz region of Poland (formerly Galicia). | Lorraine Hanley's Home Page Updated August 22, 2005 |
