1. HUGH¹ NUGENT was born Abt. 1796 in Louisiana, and died February 13, 1854 in Rapides Parish, Louisiana. He married (1) MARY PRICE. She was born Abt. 1808 in Louisiana. He married (2) JANE MACKIE Bef. 1820. She was born in Georgia.

Notes for HUGH NUGENT:
NOTE: There is no documentation for the marriage of Hugh Nugent to Jane Mackie. Although this record indicates that Hugh was married first to Mary Price, family tradition tells us that he was first married to Jane Mackie. Family tradition is the source of this.
William Nugent and Tusette Hollingsworth reared a foster son, Alvin L. Lilley, who stated that William's parents were Hugh Nugent and Jane Mackie.

The will of William Mackie, son of William and Bathsheba Duncan Mackie, is on
file in Grant Parish, Louisiana and indicates that his sister Jane was married to a
Nugent.

the Methodist Church, printed in New Orleans, La., 1851-1855:

"March 18, 1854 - - Died in Rapides Parish, La., 13 February 1854, Mr. Hugh
Nugent, in his 59th year. Leaves wife and nine children."

William Nugent and Tusette Hollingsworth reared a foster son, Alvin L. Lilley,
who stated that Hugh Nugent and Jane Mackie were the parents of William M.
Nugent. Most of William's descendants accept this as fact.
