The Decendants of John and Polly West of NC, Ga., Ms.,Tx..

John West was born in 1762, entered service in the Revolutionary War in Gates Co., NC. He was captured by the British at the fall of Charleston. After being imprisoned for three years, he was returned to Gates Co. and married Mary Parker in 1786. They migrated to Jasper Co. Ga. by 1805. Known children from this marriage were Thomas, John Jr., Penelope and Rufus(Robert). Penelope and husband, Benjamin Rogers migrated to Dallas co. Al, then to Anderson Co. Tx.Rufus and wife Nancy?? (Burks or Saxon) went to Scott Co, Ms, Leake Co, Ms, Drew Co. Ar. and then to Rusk Co. Tx. Some of the family then went to Somervell Co. Tx. Rufus and Nancy had eight sons, and five of them fought in the Civil War. I will share any information I have about this family.
