Descendants of Anna Smith

Generation No. 1

1. ANNA3 SMITH (CARL CHRISTIAN2, SHIP CAPTAIN LOST AT1 SEA.) was born February 19, 1888 in Tacoma, Pierce County, Washington, and died 1954 in Seattle, King County, Washington. She married JOSEPH HENRY (DODE) HARRISON February 19, 1910 in Allyn, Mason County, Washington, son of EDWARD HARRISON and HARRIET DODD. He was born July 30, 1883 in Lewiston, Michigan, and died 1958 in Seattle, King County, Washington.

Notes for A
NNA SMITH:
Anna loved school. There were no roads there then. She and her siblings had to row a boat across North Bay to get to school every day. They weren't alone, either. They were accompanied, at times, by what they called back then "black fish". Killer-whales!
There were Indians in the area also. When they came to visit, they wouldn't bother knocking. You were likely to look up from your work and see them standing there in your kitchen. Once, Anna dressed herself up like an Indian and surprised Ella when she came in. Ella fainted.
Anna loved school so much that when her father offered her a gold piece to stay home and help him work, she turned him down. She attended school all the way through her junior year. That was something in those days especially for a girl and especially when there was so much work to be done at home.
Sometime after Doug and Juanita were married, Doug's mom(Anna) made him some work pants out of sandpaper. Bud got her the sandpaper from the plywood mill where he worked. Anna washed and rubbed it, removing all the grit and leaving a tough canvas material.
