I am researching two different families: COPE (includes these families: GLASS, SWANNER, NEAL, RHODES)& HART (which includes these families: HOWARD,GRAYSON/GRACEN,WILLIAMS,WHEATLY,WILSON)
COPE FAMILY: My branches: Edwin Glass Cope b.1914-2002, Edwin Grey Cope b. 1881-1947, Rynard/Reynard Justus Cope b. 1859-1921, Sandy Alexander Cope b.1823-1877, Fredrick Cope b. 1793-1860, John Fridrich Cope b. 1754-1822, John Nicholas Cope b.1716 Germany - 1785 North Carolina, Yost Cope b. abt. 1700 Germany - 1765 PA. Any information on any of these lines will be greatly appreciated also.
SWANNER FAMILY:(Includes: SWANNER,CHERRY,DANIEL,BARTLETT) James SWANNER (b.abt. 1790 Martin Co., NC d. 1842 Wolf Island Township Scott Co., MO )(now Mississippi Co.) mar. Anna CHERRY (b. 1792 NC d. abt.1860 NC). According to the 1840 Census of Scott County, he lived at F15 065 Wolf Island Township, Lucas Bend, Mississippi County, MO James brought the following children with him to MO from NC around 1833 : Enoch Gray b. December 28, 1828, Joseph b. abt. 1828 and Evaline b.1830 . I believe these children were born in North Carolina even though the census records state TN. If they were truly born in TN then Anna CHERRY would not be their mother! He married Cynthia Ann Daniels in 1838 in Marshall County, TN after the birth of Marshall Green SWANNER in 1834. James also owned land in Hickman County, TN He died in 1842 as proven by Anna Cherry's application for the War of 1812's Widow's Pension. (Anna was approved to receive this pension). Cynthia Ann DANIEL SWANNER re-married in 1844 to William BARTLETT in Scott Co., however, they lived in Mississippi Co., MO. William BARTLETT died around 1850 leaving Anna with 2 sons. One son, William was born abt. 1848 and the other son, George, born abt. 1850. The last evidence of Cynthia was on the census of 1850 in Mississippi Co., MO where she was listed as C.A. Bartlett with 5 children. Three of these children were the ages which agree with children that could have been SWANNERS and 2 sons were the children she had with William BARTLETT. Any information on any of Cynthia's children or on Cynthia after 1850 would be greatly appreciated.
HART & HOWARD FAMILIES: Most of Jim's relatives came from West Tennessee, Henderson County, around Lexington. His father was Arthur Lee HART(b. 1911, d.1994) - married to Ruby L. HOWARD (b. 1912 in Center Ridge, AR) -- his father was F.J.(Felix)HART (b. 1872 d. 1958) married to Minnie Florence WILLIAMS( b. 1880 in TN and d 1968 in MO). These families came from Lexington, Henderson Co., TN. Would appreciate any info.on either family.
GRAYSON/GRACEN Family: The family of Ruby HOWARD'S mother, Emma Jane GRAYSON/GRACEN(b.1888 Center Ridge, AR d. 1970 in MO) who married Charley Adams HOWARD(b. 1888 in AR and d. 1939 in MO)from Conway County,Center Ridge, AR. Emma Jane's siblings: Tinnie Belle(sister), Cary/Kerry (brother) & Lizzie(sister)(Lizzie/Elizabeth married Allen FREEMAN abt. 1905 and moved to the Sikeston/Matthews, MO area where they lived until their deaths. Tinnie Belle married Joseph ANDERSON in AR and remained in that area until her death. Cary/Kerry GRAYSON/GRACEN remained single and lived with his sister, Tinnie Belle, and her husband until his death in 1960. Ruby also had a 1/2 sister named Nora HOWARD. We believe she was the child from Charley Adams Howard's 1st marriage. These families were primarily from Arkansas but could have migrated from Tennessee.
