| My family migrated to Jacksonville, FL in 1910 from Atlanta, GA. My father was Blanton Madison Harriss. Little is known of his heritage beyond the name of his father, James Madison Harriss. The origin of the unique surname spelling is also unknown. My mother's parents were J.O. & Addie (Chupp) McKnight. My wife Phyllis was from Cumberland, MD, where her parents, Nile & Anna (Staniforth) Webb were both ordained CMA clergypersons. Our family tree, No. 5639, was submitted to FTM and is in Volume 1 of the FTM World library. Our children are: William B Harriss, b. 10/6/1950, Carolyn Anne Harriss, b.8/27/1952, and Susan Patricia Harriss, b. 1/30/1960. |
