My research started following my mothers death in 1996,my grandmother was institutionalised for 41 years of her life and I was determined to find out why, this led me to commence my research ,mainly on the maternal side of the family.
It soon became apparent that my mothers family moved to the "Black country" from Cornwall following the collapse of the lead and copper mining industry in the 1870's, her father came from an agricultural family in Tenbury Wells and previously Wales who also moved to the Black country at the turn of the 20th century.
My father's father was born out of wedlock and therefore the research on that side of the family came to a dead end .
My Great grandmother's name was Charlotte Davey from Cornwall and it is said that there is some distant relationship with Sir Humphrey Davey the inventor of the "Davey Lamp", but I have yet to investigate this . The names included in my research are Lower , Davey and Webb.
