* Lane, Fowler, and Laycock Family Page*

Updated September 6, 2000

I am collecting family information on the decendants and ancestors of the following family lines (so far): Harrison Lane (About 1838), William Seals (About 1822 in Cannal County, TN), John Strevels (About 1769), and John Fowler (1740-1790) and his son America Fowler, Sr. (1773) of Spartanburg, South Carolina. The majority of the decendants located so far reside in the North Central Texas (West of Dallas) area.

If you are not listed on the tree at this site, please send an e-Mail to me with your mailing address. Be sure to let me know who you are decended from.

  • 1950 Lane Family Photo (460 KB)
From Left: Mack Fowler, Seless (Lane) Fowler, Bill and Pat Lane, Tom Lane, Martha Jane (Seals) Lane, Roy and Rene Lane, Billie Jo Lane and ?, Rex and Mary Lane, Ruth, Donna Sue Fowler and ?
  • 1920 Joseph Fowler 1824-1927 (306 KB)
From Left: Joseph Fowler (1824-1927) with friends Bill Kutch and Barney Ham. This article appears in a 1920's issue of "The Texan". An image of that article is posted on this site. If anyone knows the identity of the two children at the far-left side of the photo, please e-mail me with the information. The following anecdotal information was related to me by older members of my family and is not verified historical fact (as far as I know). Joseph Fowler was the only survivor of an Indian raid on his farm when he was a child. The Indians killed everyone except for Joseph who was away retrieving oxen from the pasture at the time of the raid. Bill Kutch was the only survivor of the famous Warren wagon train massacre that is a big part of Texas history. The massacre resulted in the first jury trial of American Indians in a "white mans" court. I don't have any background on Barney Ham.
  • 1920 article from "The Texan" (634 KB)
The original photo used for this article is posted on this page. You will notice that the photo in this article does not show the two children at the far-left of the original photo. The Texas banner in the picture and the references to "the Texan" in the article are refering to the Texan automobile. Evidently, Texan was the brand name for an automobile produced at the time.
  • 1904 James Thomas Lane (1870-1956) Family Photo (417 KB)
From the top left: Troy, Marvin and Minnie; Seated: James Thomas Lane and Martha Jane Seals; Children in front: Roy, Cora, and Seless (the baby).
  • Bet. 1904 - 1923 John Seals and Susan Kech (588 KB)
From the left: John Seals (1843-1923 and his wife Susan Kech. I don't have any information on Susan Kech. Please send an e-mail to me if anyone has any information on her family line.
