| <h2>My research of the CHILCOTT Family Name began 20-25 years ago. Elihu Chilcott was born in Maryland on April 8, 1757. He lived and died in Lost River, Hardy County, Virginia. I have spent time in the Lost River area of West Virginia searching through records for information. I have obtained copies of many deeds, wills, appraisals, military records, etc. I have also visited old family cemetaries in the Virginia-West Virginia area and have taken photographs at some of them. However, the following is still a mystery. Is there a proven connection between John and Margaret Chilcott (circa 1738) who resided in Western Run, Baltimore County, Maryland? It has been said that they were the parents of Elihu Chilcott but I have not seen any evidence to support that conclusion as yet. I am interested in sharing information with those who may be researching the CHILCOTT (Silket)(Chilcote) (Chilcoat)name. Other names that are included in my research are as follows: CARR, CLAYPOOLE, DAY, GEORGE, HARE, HOTTEL, LINDAMOOD, LITTEN, MONTRONE, MURPHY, PAYNE, ROEDIG, SHIP, SHOEMAKER, SMITH, STRAEHLE, TOMLIN, WILSON, WOOLVERTON and many others.
