I am looking for any information about my great grandfather Hans Gansel, he came from Denmark (around 1890) as a child and changed his name from "Ganzel" to "Gansel" .He married my Great grandmother Winifred Kelly around 1903. I have been unable to find any brothers or sisters, or even his parents names, I havent a clue as to how to do it either. I know in Denmark in the late 1800's they used to give the child the fathers first name for their last name , so I am unsure if my great great grandfathers name was Ganzel? I do know he was a fisherman, and that my great grandfather had been sold to farmer when he was a child, which was commin then . I have also discovered that Gansel means in danish "goose" and in german it means "keeper of geese." |
