* Dick and David Harrison a family history December 2006*

Updated February 15, 2007

Dick and David HARRISON are brothers. The surnames of both their father and mother were both HARRISON. So we have a large number of Harrisons in the family. Generally the origins of our mother, Kit Harrison, are from Oxfordshire and Scotland, while our father's ancestors come from North Wales and Somerset/Devon.David started researching his family history in the late 1970s after his marriage to Pat MOLD.We have made significant discoveries through the internet and have met a number of distant relatives over the period.
One lovely story which we would like to establish is that on our mother's side, we are descended from the family of William SHAKESPEARE. This was a family story that came down through our aunt, Jan HARRISON. However unlikely this link is, we have got back to within about 50 miles of Stratford-upon-Avon, a hundred years and the same surname, HART, as William's sister, Joan. We have a long way to go still.
There are other possible famous relatives which we have yet to establish, namely James WATT, the famous engineer.
Hopefully in time these people will be linked to the HARRISON family.
The main family lines are as follows:
Our father was Stanley William HARRISON, aka Stan, who for most of his career was an RAF Chaplain. His father's side of the family came from North Wales, although they moved to Middlesex. His mother's family came from Devon and Somerset.
Mother, Kit HARRRISON was from Oxford and Oxfordshire on her father's side, while her mother's family came from Scotland.
