| Always looking for information on Harnett, Harnet, Harned, Hornett, and variations... especially for those in Central Ohio in the time period of 1800-1850. I am continuing over thirty years of family research, and have quite a bit of information. If you feel I can help you with something, please feel free to let me know. Also looking for any census records from Woodbury County, Iowa (Sioux City) for 1870 and 1880. Also need census records for Lawrence County, S.D. for years 1880 , 1890, 1900, 1910, and 1920. Our family history is traceable to James B. Harnett of Circleville, Ohio. Beyond that, information is very sketchy, but it is certainly thought that the family line can be traced back to Edward Harnett of Salem, MA. We only need to establish a couple of crucial links. It seems as though these missing links may turn up in western or central Pennsylvania. We know that a John Harnet signed a petition in 1800 with three hundred other "squatters" to purchase the land between the Muskingum and Sciota Rivers in what is now Central Ohio. We believe John originally came from Pennsylvania, but have not been able to verify that. We also believe one of John's sons was James B. Harnett -- our last verified link. |
