(II) Roger Sargent, son of Hugh Sargent (1), was born about 1562, died July, 1649. He married, January 3, 1589-90, Ellen Makernes, who died October, 1645. She was daughter of William Makernes, of Finedon, thirteen miles and a half north of Northampton. His will, proved March 30, 1616, mentions son-in-law, Roger Sargent, and some of his children. Roger Sargent, probably named for his mother's brother Roger, or his great-grandfather of the same name, was junior bailiff in 1616 and 1617 and mayor of Northampton in 1626.
