!Obituary: Carl M. JOHNSON departed this life Tuesday, August 16, 1988 in the Chestnut Hill Hospital after a long illness.
He was born to the late Reverend E. A. and Alice Taylor Johnson in Greenville, Mississippi, where he spent his early life, being reared in a Christian home.
His primary education was received in Greenville Elementary School.He later attended and graduated from Booker Washington High School in Memphis, Tennessee.Pursuing higher education, he attended Rust College, Holly Springs, Mississippi.
He was later married to Vivian L. BROWN and they moved to Philadelphia, PA/
He joined St. Matthews A. M. E. Church in West Philadelphia under the leadership of the late Reverend M. Lewis and became a loyal and devoted member.
He served in the Armed Forces of his country from 1943 to 1945 and was later employed by the United States Postal System.
He was a kind and gentle man, who lived to share fond memories; his wife, Vivian Johnson, five sister, Mrs Ardella Davis of Boston, Mass., Mrs Martha Chapman of Oakland, California, Mrs. Octavia Wright of San Diego, California, Mrs. Alice Majors and Mrs Bertha Rogers of Boston, Mass., also two brothers, James A. Johnson of Philadelphia, Pa., and Theodore Johnson of Denver, Colorado, a host of nieces, nephews and other relative and Friends.
