2. JOHANN KONRAD2 HARTH (JOHANN PHILLIP1) was born November 18, 1830 in Ingelheim, Rheinhessen, Hesse-Darmstadt, Germany, and died March 18, 1909 in Mayfield, Washington Co., Wisconsin, USA. He married ELISABETH KOCH June 16, 1859 in St Louis, Missouri, daughter of ?? KOCH.

Notes for JOHANN KONRAD HARTH:
       
       Conrad was born on 18 November 1830 at Ingelheim, Rheinhessen (now Hessen-Darmstadt) Germany.

       He immigrated to United States in 1853 and lived in St. Louis, Missouri until
1859 when he married Elizabeth Koch on 16 June 1859. They settled in West Bend,
Wisconsin. A year after they married they moved to Mayfield, Washington County,
Wisconsin. Elizabeth had relatives by the name of Altones living in the area. Conrad
passed away on Thursday, 18 March 1909.

       His death certificate states he died at 8 am. The cause of death was listed as whoplexia and old age, he was 78 years old. His occupation was listed as shoemaker. Place of burial was listed as Mayfield Cemetery, Polk Township, Washington County, Wisconsin.

       Pension documents state that he was 5 feet 6 inches tall with light complexion brown eyes and black hair. It also states that he was enrolled 17 December 1862 as a Private in the A.J. Fullerton Post, G.A.R., Company 'H' 34th Regiment and transferred to 'F' Company on 1 January 1863, he was mustered out on 8 September 1863. Conrad enrolled on 7 October 1864 with Company 'I' 45th Regiment, Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry. He was Honorably Discharged at Nashville, Tennessee on the 17th July 1865 in the rank of Private. Statement on record says "Feb28/65 absent in confinement in military prison by order of Gen. F. Miller, Com Offr. the Post Nashville prison Feb 12/65 to Apr 30/65, confined in Military prison Nashville, Tenn., sentence Feb 12/65 by order of Gen. Miller, sentenced 3 months hard labor and stoppage of pay for 3 months."

       The Conrad Harth family was listed in the 1870 and 1880 US Census for the town of Polk, Washington Co., Wisconsin. The family following them in the 1880 census was that of John Kissinger - John Harth, son of Conrad's was listed with family as a servant.
