ACHEL ANN TAYLOR:
Family folklore indicates that Rachel Taylor was a descendant of the Lord Baltimores. Her father, Samuel Taylor, was a wealthy Baltimore County landowner with several daughters and at least one son. According to a Taylor family history at the Maryland Historical Society, Samuel Taylor was not pleased with his daughters' choices for husbands. Photographs of the family estate are available at MHS. (Mt. Pleasant Golf Course was once part of the family estate and includes a Taylor graveyard.) At the time of Samuel Walker's death, his daughters and their husbands sued their brother over the settlement of the estate.

According to Ione Scholl Eckersen, a great granddaughter of Rachel Taylor Hargest, Rachel Taylor Hargest was a cousin of President Zachary Taylor. (letter dated August 21, 1964 to Virginia Hargest Scholl Pick)
