James Hargest (1770-1843) married Hannah Evans (1781-1838) in Herefordshire, England on June 28, 1804 before emigrating to Baltimore before October, 1804. (Also, Hannah's brother, Thomas Evans, emigrated to Baltimore with the couple.) James and Hannah Hargest had nine children; John (1805-before 1830), James (1807-1828), Mary (1808-1880), Elizabeth (1811-1832), Hannah Ann (1813-1854), Jane(1814-1847), William Evans (1820-1871), Ann M. (abt.1818-before 1843) and Thomas (1823-1905). James Hargest had a family farm in Baltimore, Maryland located at North Avenue and Harford Road.

James and John both died young. Mary married a John Jones and had several children. She later separated from John Jones but retained her property and custody of the two children. Mary's daughter, Hannah Ann, married a John Wesley Disney and had three children. Elizabeth Hargest married a John Ogier in Baltimore and had two sons before her death in 1832; James Hargest Ogier (1830-1885) and John Stewart Ogier (1832-1926). James Hargest Ogier emigrated to San Jose, Cailfornia married, developed a fruit farm, and had eight children. John Stewart Ogier remained in Baltimore, married a Mary Elizabeth Burgan and had fourteen children. Jane Hargest married a Samuel Walker (1808-1865) and had two children; Virginia Hughlett Walker and John Hargest Walker. Virginia Walker married a Joshua Whitaker and moved to Harford County. After Jane's death, Samuel Walker married her sister Hannah Ann Hargest and had three additional children; Hannah Evans Walker, William Harding Walker, and Jane Walker. There are no known third generation descendants of Samuel Walker and Hannah Ann Hargest. William Evans Hargest married a Rachel Taylor in Baltimore and settled in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. They had eight children including three sons; Thomas Sewell Hargest, John James Hargest, and Jefferson Hargest. Thomas Hargest, youngest child of James and Hannah Evans Hargest, married an Urith Ann Leach, and had ten children. Thomas remained in Baltimore on the Hargest farm property.

Currently, descendants of James and Hannah Evans Hargest live throughout the United States. I am continuing to research the following surnames associated with the Hargest family; Ogier, Walker, Robb, Evans, Disney, Brandt, Woollen, Leach, and Nicholson.
